What is the timer used for in the game?
Games of skill are based on different variables and one that is frequently incorporated is the use of a shot or move timer. You are allocated a certain amount of time per shot or move. This amount of time is selected in the preferences area when setting up a table for tournament play. If a player fails to shoot or make a move in his allotted time, a sound will ring and the other player will receive ball in hand, or in the case of board games, the game will register a timeout. If three timeouts are achieved by a given player, the game ends. This is also to ensure that a player cannot just leave a game window open and not make a move in the hopes that there opponent will forfeit, which constitutes a delay of game violation in most professional settings.

If you are the host of a table, you have the ability to decide who can and cannot watch your game. What is the Rating System for multi-player games?
The player rating system is the center of our matching system. The system is based on the industry standard created by the United States Chess Federation (USCF). The USCF is the standard rating system for chess players worldwide. Entry fees and game results influence your rating to protect you against cheaters. Your rating goes up when you win and goes down when you lose. The amount you gain or lose is based on the ranking of your opponent.

Why do I have different ratings?
Each player is given a separate rating for each game to ensure fairness, and because each game requires its own unique level of skill which must be rated.

What is the Rating System for Single Player Games?
The rating system for single player games is a proprietary system that assigns one of three classes to a player; Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced. Based on your previous score history, the system compares the average of your scores to the average of everyone’s scores, and assigns your rating accordingly. Players can be sure that they are competing against opponents of comparable skill.

The minimum system requirements are Windows 98, Sun Microsystems Java, Macromedia Shockwave, Macromedia Flash, and Internet Explorer v.5 and greater. We would recommend having the most up to date system and software updates installed.

I’ve heard players get blocked from your site?
An account may have / can be banned for any number of reasons. The most common of them is that the account holder used the account to violate a rule listed in one of Game Trust or a Game Trust affiliates site Terms and Conditions. Some acts such as password fishing, lewd comments, and harassment are grounds for instant removal. We reserve the right to remove any account at any time without any prior warning and for whatever reason we deem necessary to protect the integrity of the site and to serve the sites community. Occasionally we will ban an account under suspicion it has been stolen or is committing fraudulent or otherwise inappropriate acts in order to protect the site. If we discover that the account was valid and not as suspected, we will immediately un-ban it and reinstate it to the status it previously was. We must occasionally do this to protect the sites. If you had a point balance in your account, you may or may not be entitled to it depending on the circumstances of the ban. In all cases of fraud no points will be refunded. If you were removed for language, behavior, or other non fraudulent behavior, you can make a claim for a refund on some of your points. The refundable points are the ones you purchased with a confirmed (non fraudulent) deposit method minus winnings, promotional, bonus, and points spent.

The game just told me I was cheating?
There are multiple reasons why you may get a message that states "You are Cheating" after or during game play. Our system looks for things such as solution generators on computers when you play a game, or sometimes similar games. If you are playing a game like mahjong or solitaire on our site, and have a mahjong or solitaire program open on your home machine, it may trigger the response. If that is the case close those programs before you log on and this may fix the problem. Another thing we scan for is system slowdown. In some of our games, simply running them on a very old computer can give you an unfair advantage by slowing down the frame rate to a point where the game becomes easier to play. This is a more complex problem to solve. While there is no turnkey solution to make your games run optimally, there are some suggestions we can make that will help in most cases clean up the problem.

  • Close other open programs. They use your processor and can make your PC run much slower
  • Clean your computer of Spyware. This is a good practice for all computer users. You can download some good free software such as SpyBot or Ad-Aware at site like downloads.com in the Spyware section (www.downloads.com)
  • Update your software. Check to see if you have the latest software updates for Java, Flash, Shockwave, and the latest Windows or MacOS updates. If none of this solves your problem you may want to consider upgrading your computer.

I get a load error, what do I do?
First step is to clear you internet cache. In Internet Explorer click on tools in the menu bar, and select internet options. Then click delete files, select all offline content, and submit. In firefox select tools in  the menu bar and then options. In the options window click on the privacy tab and under  the cache section click clear cache now. After you have done this you need to clear your java console. In the start menu select control panel. In the control panel select the java icon and open the java controls window. In the controls window under general click the button delete files. You may want to restart your machine afterwards as some people find this helps, although it may not be required. After this process is complete you should be able to open your game without load errors.
