What are Tournaments?
Tournaments are a way to earn a large amount of points and to play against the best players in a game. Players typically compete for best score and placement in their respective tournament with the top place taking a Points prize. These prizes are eligible for withdrawal for free points. Tournaments are typically exclusive for PlayBOOST members.
What types of Tournaments are offered?
We currently offer both Multiplayer and Single Player Tournaments for PlayBOOST members.
- In Bracket tournaments, a tournament organizer will set up a single elimination bracket and assign positions to players for a select head to head game. Players will play off a set number of head to head style tournament games each round. The winners of every round will move on to the next round against a new opponent. The winner of the tournament will take a prize based on the amount of players, number of games per round, and cost per game.
- In Head to Head Tournaments, two players compete against one another in real-time. Players have the ability to set play preferences for the game and determine the point entry fee for the tournament. The winner of a head-to-head tournament takes home the total winnings minus the facilitation fee.
- In Single Player Tournaments, two or more players play a Single Player game, and the player who registers the highest score of all players involved wins. There are two types of Single Player Tournament games; Limited Entry, and Progressive.
- Limited Entry Tournaments have a fixed number of slots and end when all slots are filled. The prize for these tournaments is pre-determined by the total number of slots (more slots means a larger prize value). Limited entry tournaments can only be entered once.
- Progressive tournaments start with a base point prize. Once the base point prize is covered additional entries into the tournament will increase the jackpot! You can spend just $1.00 and win hundreds if not thousands of dollars in a progressive tournament and there's no limit to how many times you can enter.
How do I enter tournaments?
In order to enter a tournament, you must have a sufficient Point balance. You can always get more points by clicking on the "Get Points" button on the sites main page.
- To enter a Bracket Tournament, you must first enter a Green Lobby (requires a point balance) and there must be a tournament organizer running an event. Message this organizer and ask for placement in the event. You must have a bare minimum balance of points to enter the tournament, this number varies based on tournament conditions.
- To enter Multiplayer Tournaments, you must first enter a Green Lobby (requires a point balance) and create a table or accept an opponent's challenge by sitting at an existing table.
- To enter Single Player Tournaments, you must enter a Single Player game, and then click on a green Limited Entry or Progressive Tournament.
How do I match myself with other players in tournaments?
In head to head tournaments you will be randomly matched against another player who has signed up for that bracket. In Multiplayer Tournaments, players can fairly match themselves with other players by observing ratings and other player history details from player profiles. Pairings are up to the players to decide. Click a player's username to see their profile. In Single Player Tournaments, the tournament system automatically moves players into different class systems based on their previous score history, so players can be sure that they are competing against opponents of comparable skill. You start with the novice rating.
